The Verge showed an engineering sample (Developer board) of the first iPhone. All devices are developed first on the debugging Board, and then “compressed” to the usual size.

On Board includes display, processor, RAM, flash drive, 30-pin connector, camera, Home button, power button and volume control, 3.5 mm headphone Jack, slot for SIM cards, antennas for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Note that on some engineering samples of the screen were missing — in this case used a RCA connector for video.

If you enable this sample, only appears the Apple logo but if I connect it to PC via 30-pin connector device is determined in iTunes.
