During the presentation, Apple told not about all the features of its new smartphones. For example, cupertinos did not mention the co-processor U1 which complements the main chip Apple A13. An additional processor is used to determine the location of other Apple devices running U1.
The coprocessor adds to U1 handsets support UWB technology, which allows to determine the distance to objects with a precision of 5-10 centimeters. At the same time for their work, the technology requires much less energy than GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
In the case of iPhone 11, iPhone 11, iPhone Pro and 11 Pro Max UWB technology helps to send files via AirDrop to a specific device. To do this, users just need to send your smartphone to “need” the iPhone and it will appear in the list of visible gadgets in the first position.
It is noteworthy that such information is not available on all regional versions of the Apple website. For example, it is absent in Russia. On the American Apple website information about UWB is present.
It is believed that in the future, UWB technology will be used not only to simplify interaction with AirDrop, but Apple Tag the new Apple devices to search for things.
