WASHINGTON, 16 APR /PRIME/. Qualcomm and Apple have reached an agreement that removes restrictions on the sale of Apple products around the world, introduced in connection with patent infringement, according to Business Wire.
According to the publication, the company announced the conclusion of a license agreement for a period of six years, which is effective April 1. Apple also agreed to pay Qualcomm a monetary reward, the amount of which is not specified.
In mid-March, a jury in San Diego found Apple guilty of patent infringement American manufacturer of processors and components for mobile devices, Qualcomm, has reported Reuters referring to the representative of Qualcomm. Then the court ruled that Apple violated three patents to Qualcomm, the smartphone manufacturer has to pay Qualcomm a compensation of about 31 million dollars.
In December 2018 a court in the Chinese city of Fuzhou imposed a preliminary ban on sales in Europe’s seven models of Apple smartphones in connection with the infringement of the patent rights to Qualcomm. Later, Apple filed an appeal against the court decision prohibiting the sale of iPhone in China, saying it does not violate the patent rights to Qualcomm and the ban on the sale of products is beyond the scope of judicial decisions.
As reported by Reuters, Apple will update the software of its smartphones for the resolution of claims and cancellation of preliminary ban on the sale of some models of iPhone in China.
In the second half of December, the regional court of Munich issued a verdict, according to which Apple had violated a patent Qualcomm installation on iPhone of certain technical components. In early January of this year, Qualcomm introduced a security payment in the amount of 1.34 billion euros needed for the imposition of a temporary ban on the sale in Germany of some iPhone models.
