5 July it became known that Apple has recognized the first MacBook Pro with Retina display is outdated. Two weeks later, Apple decided to postpone the decision, reports MacRumors.

MacRumors received a copy of the notice that was sent to Apple retail stores and authorised service centres. The company said that it “incorrectly classified” laptop, as vintage and legacy. Apple decided that by the end of December 2018, service centers due to service.

The note “Service news”, published in may 2018, MacBook Pro Retina with 15 inch screen, released in mid-2012 were incorrectly classified as vintage in California (USA) and Turkey, as well as the outdated worldwide with 30 June 2018.

Please note that the MacBook Pro Retina with 15 inch screen, released in mid-2012, will not be vintage in California (USA) and Turkey, and will not be obsolete in the world until the end of December 2018.

Apple apologizes for any inconvenience that could cause the previous note.

On the page with obsolete products, Apple has not yet removed the first MacBook Pro with Retina display.

Apple believes the product obsolete after a lapse of not less than five years since its release. When that happens, the Apple Store and authorized service centers will repair and supply spare parts.
