Americans prefer music Apple Music service to its direct rival the Swedish Spotify app. However, in the global market the European company surpassed almost twice its competitor.

As reported by the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources, in late February, Apple Music was more than 28 million paid subscribers in the US, and Spotify — about 26 million.

Monthly growth of new users of the service from the “Apple” of the company ranged from 2.6% to 3%. The Swedish company, the figures were more modest-1,5−2%. The Swedes didn’t help the discount for new subscribers to the video service Hulu.

Dissatisfied with such results, the company Spotify even complained to Apple in the European antitrust regulator. The Swedes accused the competitors that they have control of the App store to promote their services.

However, Spotify is almost two times ahead of Apple Music, if you take the number of subscribers around the world.

The total number of users of the Swedish service is 207 million people of which 96 million to pay for the subscription. The rest use the free version with ads.

Free version Apple Music not. The number of subscribers of this service worldwide is about 50 million people. However, it has a higher monthly growth rate: 2.4 to 2.8% against 2-2,3% in Spotify.
