Some time ago it became known that Apple had not complied with the conditions of the contract with Samsung, and didn’t purchase a specified number of OLED panels for iPhone. This was due to low demand for the latest Apple smartphones. Today it became known that the cupertinos have had to pay Samsung more than 683 million dollars compensation.
Recently, network sources said that Apple was not planning to pay the Korean giant large compensation. Instead, the cupertinos have suggested Samsung to issue a new contract to supply OLED panels for laptops and tablets. However, judging by recent reports, Samsung such conditions were not interested.
As it became known, the payment of compensation was made in the second quarter of this year. However, despite imposing the fine, Samsung expects a significant drop in operating profit. According to the preliminary report, in the second quarter of this year, the profit of Samsung will be reduced by 56%. Experts explain this situation by falling prices for chips, a glut in the market and US sanctions against Chinese company Huawei, which is one of the key clients of Samsung.
