Daniel Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, in a commentary for CNN, said that obtaining a new patent confirms the continued work of Apple over the flexible device. According to him, the first foldable iPhone could appear in late 2020-early 2021.

The first patent for iPhone with flexible screen, Apple got in 2016. It was assumed that the model was able to fold the display inwards or outwards, and attached to clothing.
