According to a new report from DigiTimes, Apple has started to cooperate with two Chinese companies. They have been manufacturing aluminum cases for the MacBook.
In 2017, manufacturers Shenzhen Everwin Precision Technology and AAC Technologies have been certified by Apple. In 2018 they started to deliver small quantities of cases available for Apple laptops.
Prior to that, Apple worked only with factories Taiwan Catcher Technology, Foxconn Technology and Casetek Holdings. They will continue to produce the majority of cases. Sources told DigiTimes that the Taiwanese company needs to notice the change in the gross profit and not the number of orders. Answering the question about new competitors, a representative of Catcher Technology announced that their plans for 2018 remain unchanged.
For Apple, this agreement will reduce the cost of housings. Low-cost components can be useful in the new MacBook Air, which is rumored, will cost less than $ 1,000, but will get a Retina screen and the latest Intel processors.
