MOSCOW, April 26 /PRIME/. The American company Apple considered purchasing parts of the business to Intel Corp for the production of chips for smartphones and modems, said Friday the newspaper the Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
“The negotiations began last summer and lasted until recently, until about the time Apple has reached an agreement with Qualcomm for the supply of components”, — writes the edition.
Intel, in turn, is considering different options for the development of the chip business, including its sale — the Apple company or another buyer, said the source.
“Intel has already received offers from interested companies and hired a Bank Goldman Sachs Group Inc. for the organization of the transaction, which is still at an early stage,” the newspaper writes, citing sources.
The publication does not specify what ended the negotiations and will they continue in the future.
Earlier in April, Qualcomm and Apple have reached an agreement that removed restrictions on the sale of Apple products around the world, introduced in connection with the patent infringement. The company entered into a license agreement for a period of six years. Apple also agreed to pay Qualcomm a monetary reward, the amount of which is not specified.
