WASHINGTON, 27 Aug — RIA Novosti. Apple CEO Tim cook said that the company will donate funds for the restoration of the Amazon forest after the fires.
“It is very painful to watch as the fires and destruction devastate the Amazon rainforest, which is one of the most important ecosystems in the world. Apple will donate funds to help preserve biological diversity and restore the irreplaceable forests of the Amazon in Latin America,” wrote cook in his Twitter.
Earlier, the President of France stated that the G7 will receive immediate assistance in the amount of approximately EUR 20 million for fighting forest fires in the Amazon.
Severe fires in forests of the Amazon continue one week, their area is 82% more completed fire for the whole of 2018. This year, in Brazil there has been more than 78 thousand forest fires, the worst figure since 2013. According to Brazilian National Institute for space research (INPE), only on Thursday and Friday in the country was recorded 1663 new fire, half of them in the Amazon.
