Big news today, Vodafone is also coming in the UK iPhone market later this yeat. So now I guess all American customers of AT&T are waiting to have the same kind of choice as in UK, because AT&T hasn’t been known as being a good mobile operator with the iPhone.

Very interesting graph from Admob this month, of course United States are the big market for the iPhone, but the second one is not UK, it’s France!!! The fourth market is Canada, without official provider, we can easily measure the unlocked market of the iPhone, between 20% and 40%.

And here is an interesting pie chart showing that US iPhone users surf on Internet with Edge much more than I thought, around 46%. So it means that the iPhone is a real “mobile” Internet device, even without Wifi available.

You can now found some iPhone 16Gb in UK, both in Apple Store (real shop) and O2 shops at the price of £329. But in the London Regent Street Apple Store, they haven’t received the new iPod Touch 32Gb yet ().

A rumor coming from Engadget has appeared today about a 16Gb iPhone in O2 stores around 1.30 pm this afternoon. Interesting that the device comes first in UK before the US. I doubt it, but we will see in 2 hours…

According to the Financial Times, O2 didn’t hit its target of selling 200,000 iPhones in the first 2 months. Experts are expecting a price cut soon in the UK market. I think we will see that price cut only when a new iPhone will be released. O2 is already happy with the iPhone launch because 190,000 iPhones sold means around 90,000 new O2 customers who were with other mobile providers. So it’s definitely a big win for O2 in the current saturate market where the only way to gain customers is to “steal” them from competitors.
Also it provides to O2 new contract customers, because the iPhone comes only with a contract, so it’s a guaranteed revenue for at least 18 months.

Admob gave us their metrics for December, and here is a quick quote from them:
“Apple iPhone share grew again and we observed a strong “gifting” trend around iPhones for the Christmas holiday”
