The first smartphones based on the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will be released in early 2019. A revolutionary feature of smartphones with Snapdragon 855 “on Board” will support 5G.
As reported by insider Roland Quandt, mass production of processors Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 started at the beginning of June. In flagship smartphones, the chip will appear in the first half of 2019.
The first smartphone which will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, will be the mysterious device from Sony under the code number H8526. Insiders suggest that under this number the “hidden” Sony Xperia XZ3 Premium. It has been already spotted in the GeekBench benchmark with a score of 3033 and 10992 points in a single-threaded/multi-threaded modes, respectively.
According to earlier rumors, the Snapdragon chip will be 855 made using 7-nm process. Compared to its predecessor, Snapdragon 845, the novelty will boast improved performance and reduced power consumption. The key “chip” Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will be the presence of the modem SDX50 providing support 5G networks.
