The launch of WDC for Muscovites and residents of suburbs promises to be one of the main events of the fall, and experts have noted, what are the pros and cons are of this project. How the system of the IDC and what will happen to passengers, read the material RIAMA.

Diameters instead of radii

The idea of WDC, which in recent months, talking more, has long been in the air. It is to be linked via Moscow disparate directions of trains, which now rests at Moscow railway stations, a single line which will go newest trains “Oriole”, capable of speeds up to 120 km/h.

Although most of the radial Railways in Moscow are linked, the links are mainly used by long-distance trains or freight trains, but suburban trains him hardly walk. This want to fix by creating a network of Central diameters.

Due to the fact that the lines of the IDC will be held in Moscow, they will be able to enjoy not only the residents of the suburbs who need to quickly get from one end region to another, but also Muscovites — as an analogue of the subway, and of course, your journey can simplify residents of the area who daily ride to work in Moscow.

As previously noted the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, about 20 stations on each diameter will be located in the city, so for many Muscovites will be easier to change from subway to the IDC, since the station will be closer to home.

WDC — in the start

The first in November will be running the IDC-1 Odintsovo in the frontal and IDC-2 from Nakhabino to Podolsk. The trip on the first route including stops will take 80 minutes (52 kilometers), and the second is two hours (80 kilometers).

According to the Railways, the first two lines of the IDC is only 66 stations, including 27 with transfers on the metro, ICC or other Railways. In total they will give more than 900 thousand passengers a day.

To start the IDC on the tracks of the railroad are being built for more modern platforms, or updated existing ones. For example, at the station “Lobnya” Savelovsky direction of Moscow railway will replace lighting, benches, litter-boxes, lay paving, install modules inform passengers about the weather and stand SOS. There will be additional validators will be upgraded and available to accept credit cards. Until 2021 in Lobnya plan to remodel the platform and to build more.

As planned by the designers, on the lines of the IDC will be built in major transport hubs where you can take the metro or ground transportation. So, in Odintsovo completes the construction of the TPU “Innovation center”, which will be outputs from the IDC to the “SKOLKOVO”, “trekhgorka apartment” and public transport.

Plans for the Central diameters are far-reaching: by 2022 it is planned to launch two more lines WDC from Zelenograd in Ramenskoye and from Aprelevki — in the Train, with the capture of problem cities Reutov and Balashikha. The development is the fifth line of the IDC, which will be held from Bolshevo station through the large cities of the Yaroslavl direction of Korolev and Mytishi South Biryuleva.

Train with an interval of metro

According to the IDC will run a six-carriage train “Oriole” as the ICC. The interval of train movement on WDC at rush hour will be only 5-6 minutes, and go they will be on the schedule of the Moscow metro — from 5.30 am till midnight, without a task window, the usual for trains.

Travel in the “Orioles” will be much more comfortable than in an ordinary train. These compounds are distinguished by smooth running, low noise and vibration. Handrails are warm floors, the seats in the carriages are located opposite each other, and on them there are Luggage racks.

In the carriages supports a climate and a system of air disinfection, mounts for bikes and free Wi-Fi, USB sockets for charging gadgets and information screens. Each part of the “Oriole” are bound to be guards and cameras.

By the way, on the lines of the IDC along with the “Orioles” in mixed mode will be run and ordinary trains, at the same intervals, and the fare will be the same as on the ultra-modern trains.

Tariff zones: how to pay

For Central diameters developed a special tariff plan. It consists of three zones: “Central”, “Suburb” and “Far.” In the “Central” area includes trips to Moscow in the limits of stations of “mark” and “Setun” (IDC-1), “Volokolamskaya” and “Ostafyevo” (IDC-2). Trip within this zone will cost the card “Troika” in 38 rubles — the standard rate for public transport in the capital. When contactless and cashless payment of fares on WDC for the “Central” area will make 42 roubles.

The second area — “Suburbs” — extends to the terminuses of the IDC (“Odintsovo” — “Lobnya” and “Nakhabino” — “Podolsk”). The cost of the trip will be 45 rubles. But if the passenger decides to drive from “a Suburb” in the “Central” zone, the fare will not change and will be the same 45 rubles.

The third zone — “Far”, pay it on the map “Troika”. If a passenger travels to Moscow by train from the far suburbs, the tariff consists of two parts. First, the current fare on the train for 23 rubles for each area up to the boundaries of the IDC, and then another 45 rubles for travel within the “Suburb” and “Central” zones.

It is expected that the new tariff system will help passengers WDC every day to save on travel up to 75%.

To pay for a ride on the new transport not only the “Troika”, but also to buy regular ticket on the train. However, in the first case, the passengers are in an important bonus — free transfer to the metro and the ICC. In the second case, no such bonus.

The turnstiles at the stations and the IDC is equipped with terminals for contactless fare payment. Passengers will be able to pay off the cards with PayPass/PayWave and gadgets technology Samsung Pay Apple Pay and Google Pay.

At WDC will continue all benefits for residents of Moscow and Moscow region. In particular, pupils and students: in the “Central” area of the cost of a subscription recorded on the card of the student will amount to 395 rubles for a month, for three months — 1 185 rubles. Concessional passes for students will be applied to other areas of the IDC — “the Suburbs” and “Far”, their prices coordinate the authorities of Moscow and Moscow region.

Policies on baggage and animals, acting in the Moscow metro, and the ICC to be relevant to the IDC. Bring in here the bike will be free, but for bulky Luggage like skis will have to pay the tariff will make 60 rubles.

Competitor metro or jump start?

RIAMA interviewed transport experts agree that the IDC will benefit the transportation system in the Moscow region. Now commuter trains will be able to “work” for inner-city transportation, thereby relieving metro and roads. This practice is implemented in Germany, a similar project RER in Paris. In the future, following the effectiveness of WDC can compete with the Metropolitan subway.

“The essence of what is happening now — a transition from a train traffic schedule to a clock movement, when trains run, conventionally, every 5 minutes. In fact WDC is the Skytrain, which is to link Moscow and the Moscow region. Of course, the launch will greatly facilitate the lives of people who live near the stations of the IDC,” said RIAMA coordinator of the “Society of blue buckets” Peter Shkumatov.

This project is a lot of “raw” locations, experts say.

“Diameters promise to launch at the end of the year, but there is still work for 10 years ahead. Now mainly worked out fares and schedules to citywide fare and good regularity of motion,” says urban planner and blogger Arkadiy Gershman.

However, the integration of IDC into a citywide transportation system is still quite weak — uncomfortable approaches and entrances, the location far from the subway and ground transportation. So, use the IDC for some passengers is not very comfortable — at least at first.

Another problem cited by experts is lack of specially equipped crossings across the tracks of the IDC, where trains will run at high speeds.

“This problem is not quite the IDC is a problem of the city as a whole. Railroads often cut areas and inconvenient to move. This is a very big problem for Moscow,” — said Gershman. In his opinion, the path should be either below or above street level so as not to create inconvenience to pedestrians and cyclists.

According to Peter Shkumatov, summer residents of suburbs to get to the IDC, most will have to use private cars. Therefore, some stations WDC needs to be large Park and ride facilities.

“Most stations WDC just wasn’t designed Park and ride facilities and where they exist, their capacity is small. In the end, there is a risk that WDC will benefit only those who live in adequate walking distance to the stations”, — the expert expects.

In turn, the coordinator of the public movement “Motorists Moscow” Leonid Antonov fears that after the launch of the Express trains WDC to Moscow will be flooded residents from the suburbs in search of work. In the end, the passenger traffic once again jump, and behind him, and budgetary costs. In his opinion, smarter, to create jobs close to home, and not to turn Moscow into a giant ant hill.
