The Russian government temporarily postponed the launch of a new standard of mobile communication 5G before 2022. The technology is not implemented, while the demand for innovation will not be generated.
The mass construction of new generation networks is planned to begin towards the end of 2021.
It follows from the materials for the meeting of the Supervisory Board of ANO “the Digital economy”, which took place on Tuesday, 4 September (copy have RBC, their authenticity was confirmed by the representative of the ANO).
According to the documents it becomes clear that the concept of creation and development of 5G networks in Russia must approve in early 2019. The definition of the frequency band and implementation of pilot projects on the territory of a town with a population of not less than 1 million inhabitants is planned for the end of 2020. To large-scale launch of the technology Russia would not be ready before the end of 2021.
“The postponement is connected with the fact that the 5G has yet to Mature commercial request inside the economy”, – said Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov.
“The introduction of 5G is complicated by the need for the release of radio frequencies from military systems,” said Minister for digital development, communications and mass communications Konstantin Noskov.
