Google sent a FAS negative stance on the concept of the preset regulator on the Russian applications on smartphones, the document was presented under the heading corporate secrets, told reporters the head of Department on communications of the FAS Elena zaeva.
“RATEK made himself and acted openly Apple (at the meeting of the working group on discussion of the concept — RNS). And Google has provided a written position. She was not so categorical, as the position of RATEK, I can’t get it to sound exactly right, because colleagues presented their position marked (“for official use only” — RNS), but in General, the company expressed serious concern over the development of this concept. I really can’t quote — it is a commercial secret, I don’t know why,” said zaeva.
“Yes, they gave a negative assessment of the concept,” she concluded.
“Tomorrow we are completing the development of the draft Federal law and sent to the responsible developer — Minkomsvjazi,” — said zaeva.
Last week the Federal Antimonopoly service has introduced the concept of the bill on mandatory pre-installation of a Russian mobile applications and software (SOFTWARE) for smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers, reported in a press-service FAS. According to the concept, electronics manufacturers will need to preinstall the domestic software on devices sold in Russia, and also allow users to remove preinstalled apps without possibility of recovery.
The concept was criticized by the Russian Association of electronics manufacturers (RATEK), representing Apple, Samsung, Google, HP, Dell, Huawei and other electronics manufacturers. According to the Association, adoption of such law will slow the growth of the market of mobile applications will reduce the performance of applications and operating systems, and also will lead to higher prices for smartphones.
