The head of the Duma Committee on information policy, Leonid Levin, said that the American Corporation Apple has corrected the data of the territorial jurisdiction of the Crimea in the Maps app, but at deputies of questions to the service. About it reports TASS.
According to Levin, “Weather” stopped showing the Crimean city as part of Ukraine, but they “are not fully represented as the territory of Russia”. The service displays the Sevastopol and Simferopol, but the country to which they belong, not points.
“We drew attention to the discrimination against the Crimean cities [and the fact] that it is part of our country”, — said the Deputy.
Levin said that the Corporation promised to fix it in a week to inform the state Duma.
Crimea joined Russia following the March 2014 referendum. Ukraine and Western countries did not recognize the election results. Russia has repeatedly stated that the referendum was consistent with international law.
Earlier in another American company — Google — reported bug where some users saw the “wrong information” about the Crimea. Now, when the visits of Russian Crimea on Google maps is displayed as part of the Russian Federation and in other countries — as a disputed territory.
Later, the state Duma gave Apple a period of up to April 25, and then extended it until may 10 to correct information about ownership of the Crimea and Sevastopol.
