In his recent interview with GSMArena, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group Richard Yu explained why Huawei P30 and P30 Pro required lower frame.

According to the CEO, Huawei can make the chin already, but this will lead to accidental actuations of the touch screen. For example, if the device is completely devoid of this frame, every time, swipe up from the bottom, the display will react to this gesture as a tap.

Richard Yu noted that at the moment, Huawei is focused on reducing cut-outs on the screen and reducing the side frames, but the lower trim is still in the “frameless” smartphone.
