At the electronics show in Barcelona, Huawei has not only shown all the amazing folding smartphone Mate X, but delivered something far more vital: slim and powerful laptops. Stylish, powerful, with the original chips.

Novelty has a display with resolution higher than conventional Full HD, with a thin framework (4.4 mm), with aspect ratio of 3:2 instead of the usual 16:9, so it is much more “square” compared to many other laptops, which is better for office work and worse for movies. In nature (but not the expanses of our country) there is also a modification of the touch display.

Juicy-fresh Matebook 13, of course, comes with 4-core processors of the latest generation, but in Russia, the notebook will be available with Intel Core i5-8265U. Yes, the i7 in we will not, but that’s no reason to be upset, because they are not radically more productive, especially in a very thin 13-inch laptops, where the inability to cool 4-core with frequency up to 4600 MHz imposes significant restrictions on its use, while less ambitious i5 works in most ultrabooks more stable.

Plus, the new Matebook 13 would be a good graphics card — NVIDIA GeForce MX150. Game her will not name, but coupled with the Intel Core i5-8265U she will be able to show a good number of frames per second in GTA V at medium settings, and in other games it is possible to squeeze much more than from a built-in processor graphics core. Importantly, Huawei has done a good cooling system, otherwise the trick will fail. But we can only check during testing in the office. One problem — in Russia will sell a version just with the built in CPU graphics.

New Matebook 13 apart from the crowd of similar ultrabooks a function Huawei Share 3.0. To the right of ClickPad in the corner, hidden NFC, which will help you for the moment to associate your smartphone with Huawei laptops, for example, to quickly transfer photos or other files. It’s easier than finding a cable or copy the data via cloud services. But for this purpose the smartphone should be a shell EMUI version 9 or higher.

Memory, in my opinion, is not too much, but because it is not top-end laptop range Huawei. At your disposal will be 8 GB of RAM and SSD to 256 GB. It is not known exactly whether they are wired, but previous laptops Huawei none of this has been to complement or expand that of course, minus unless you want to do something serious, like video editing. If you try to bother and buy this model abroad, you will be able to find and with SSD on 512 GB, but much more expensive, since there will be Intel i7-8565U.

The battery capacity of 42 WH will allow you to work with your notebook in mixed mode in about 4-6 hours. As promised, the complete charging is capable of charging the device for 15 minutes so that it will be enough for 2.5 hours of work (but it is better not to believe it blindly and wait for the tests).

The laptop is very slim for models with a 4-core processor and a discrete graphics card, only 15 millimeters. But size plays ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333FN. How, in fact, to equip the ports. At Huawei Matebook 13 there are only two USB Type-C connector and headphone Jack. On the one hand, it is fashionable, stylish and youth, on the other — always have to have a adapter. Included will be a single USB Type-C, HDMI, D-Sub and USB 3.0 Type-A.

In Matebook 13 no support for recognition of the user face Windows Hello, but there is a fingerprint scanner that is built right into the power button of the laptop that is also fast and convenient.

Start pre-order Huawei Matebook 13 in Russia will begin on February 25 at 11 am.

As you may have guessed, the model with the index 14 is not much different from a 13-shki, but the difference is still not only in the diagonal of the screen. For example, a model with a 14-demonym display in one of the configurations still is on Board 16 GB. But that’s just only one of several. But the drive here too, only up to 512 GB. Many would be enough, but certainly not all.

Webcam 14-inch Huawei Matebook again hidden in the flip button on the keyboard, just like Huawei Matebook X Pro. On the one hand, this allows us not to be like mark Zuckerberg and not to stick a webcam with tape. On the other, due to the fact that it is located so low, the other person on video can better you to see, how long have you been cutting hair in the nose. By the way, Matebook chamber 13 at its traditional location in the middle above the display.

For dessert left something more important than the position of the web camera: Matebook 14 got a brand new graphics card — NVIDIA GeForce MX250. It was only 3 days ago, whereas the M150 has outlasted more than one generation of laptops. It is still based on the architecture of Pascal, but I want to believe that “green” yet somehow improved it, and play with it can be fresher and more fun.

In the 14-inch model, happiness, much more than a port for connecting external devices. Except for one USB Type-C there are more common still interfaces — USB 3.0 Type-A and even the good old USB 2.0. However, HDMI or RJ-45 and not the ride.

The laptop turned out to be 200 grams heavier than the 13-inch colleagues, and got the battery on 57 W*h And, of course, also has support. Unfortunately, if Matebook 14 and will appear in Russia, that is not right. And abroad the price of it is not from 999 euros, as Matebook 13, and from 1199 the minimum.

With Matebook X Pro we know well — the laptop of the previous generation we tested in our newsroom, and it is proven. We liked it a long battery life, excellent screen and speakers, as well as one of the best cooling systems.

What will surprise a new? To begin with, what is the top laptop Huawei, that is, everything should be on the highest level, and to fight for a place under the sun he will have with Apple MacBook Pro 13, Dell XPS 13 and ASUS ZenBook 13. The iron in it, by the way, is the same as Matebook 14 — to 16 GB of RAM, up to 512 per stick, up to Intel Core i7-8565U as CPU and choose “insert”, or a fresh NVIDIA ® GeForce ® MX250. Why, then, he is from 1599 to 1999 Euro?

First, he has a much better screen. At 13.9 inches diagonal it has a resolution of 3000х2000 pixels and higher contrast, and brightness — at least on paper. Second, he has a Thunderbolt port 3 — thing that promises to be indispensable for that year. “Makbukah” only such connectors have remained, and have Matebook X Pro has more USB Type-C and USB 3.0 Type-A to your favorite flash drives, printers, and other things.

If you haven’t upgraded your ultrabook or not at all had a similar, new Matebook X Pro is a great choice. If you have on hand the previous generation Matebook X Pro, the special sense now to buy a new one there. But it does not mean that it is not really. With the new product you will receive not only the new NVIDIA GeForce MX250, but the unique feature of Huawei Share OneHop, which allows you to quickly transfer photos from your smartphone to Huawei laptop without cables and without clouds, but directly and without a long setup. Also you can use it to copy to the clipboard the text on your phone and paste it from the buffer already on the laptop. And if you are going to buy, you’ll have to find it somewhere abroad, because in Russia it is yet to bring not going.
