TASS, 6 Nov. The American company Apple will not leave the Russian market in case of adoption of the resonant draft law requiring PE in smartphones, computers and televisions with the Smart TV apps, oriented on the Russian audience. The confidence expressed on Wednesday in conversation with the correspondent of TASS, state Duma Deputy, member of the Committee on information policy, information technologies and communications Anton Gorelkin (United Russia), commenting on the publication on this subject in the publication The Bell.
“To say that Apple will now leave the market, this is ridiculous. This calls for excessive heating up of the situation. Nowhere Apple will not go away and will continue to work on the market, I strongly believe in it,” — said the MP.
In confirmation of his words, Gorelkin gave an example with Google, which several years ago were required by the Federal Antimonopoly service of the Russian Federation to refuse the preinstall their apps on the new phones. “She left with [the Russian] market? No. And they [Apple] do not go”, — said the Deputy.
He also drew attention that Russia is in the top three of the countries — leaders in the use of Apple pay. “Apple will never give the market a competing payment services. It’s cheap blackmail”, — the politician believes. “What we are doing now in this direction, I am sure, will make all civilized countries of the world”, — said the member of profile Committee of the state Duma.
In the article The Bell argues that “the main purpose of the bill is Apple, which is trying by law to oblige to install in iPhones and iPads of the Russian application”. In this case the iOS operating system that Apple uses in General does not allow Preinstallation of third-party applications, according to the publication.
The state Duma on Tuesday adopted a bill in first reading. The document, initiated by a group of deputies headed by Chairman of the Duma Committee on economic policy Sergey Zhigareva, makes appropriate amendments to the law “On protection of consumer rights”. The Russian government supported the bill. In case of acceptance the law will come into force on 1 July 2020.
