In the VI century BC in Ancient Greece, a ruler-archon Solon decided to replace the personal responsibility of the person who took a loan on the property. Previously salted, the debtor who failed to return the loan, became a slave. Now the lender has established on the ground of the debtor’s pillar, the inscription on which reads that the land was the collateral for the loan. Called the post “stand” or hypotheka.
