In the first quarter of 2019, each client of “MegaFon” used an average of 10.7 per Gigabyte of Internet traffic, or 27.6 per cent higher than a year earlier. This follows from the results of financial and production activities of the company during the first three months of this year, which “Tape.ru” have told in a press-service of the operator.
According to experts of “MegaFon”, the company’s customers increasingly used online services offered by the operator: watch movies, listen to music and spend more time on the Internet. This contributed to the further development of the popular services and products and upgrade pricing schedule the “jump!”. Marketing initiatives such as “Buy one Samsung, get another free”, “Gigatech” and other proposals aimed at increasing connection rate “jump!” and the various data services also contributed to the increase in consumption of data services and, accordingly, the revenue from rendering these services, believe in “the Megaphone”.
In the framework of the declared digital strategy “MegaFon” an increasingly important factor in the growth of client and corporate segment, is getting revenue from the provision of digital services, including all kinds of solutions in the field of additional services (the Megaphone. TV, games, music, other content services, mobile financial services, MTM services), convergent and it services as well as services of information and communication technologies. This trend is also promoted services provided by the company in the framework of the state program “Digital Economy”, such as “Safe city” and “Smart city”. As a result of digital revenue for the first quarter of 2019 has increased by 50.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
The net profit of MegaFon increased by 4.8 percent compared to the first quarter last year, reaching 80,1 billion rubles, while service revenue increased by 2.7 percent and amounted to 72.8 billion rubles. This growth was driven by significant revenue growth from mobile data, which increased by 8.1 percent and amounted to 25.1 billion rubles. Thus, revenue from mobile data remains the main driver of the annual growth of revenue of mobile operator.
The proceeds from the sale of equipment and accessories in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 31 percent compared to the same period last year to 7 362 million rubles by optimising the retail network and growth of sales of new smartphone models by Samsung and Apple. The optimization of the retail network enabled the operator to stabilize and increase revenues from the sale of equipment.
OIBDA, including the positive effect from transition to the new accounting standard on leases, IAS 16, increased by 15.2 percent compared to last year to 35.2 billion rubles. Excluding the impact of IFRS 16 OIBDA was 30.2 billion rubles.
In the first quarter of MegaFon launched the network NB-IoT in the Sverdlovsk region and Khabarovsk region for the promotion of the Internet of things in Russia. New points on the map, “Smart Russia” companies have become Sochi, city of the Kalmykia Republic, Tula and Ryazan regions, with the company agreed on long-term cooperation.
A strategic agreement between the “City innovative technologies”, the largest player in the property management market in Northwest Russia, “MegaFon” and “net Bay net” will allow the parties to proceed with the development of the housing sector on a completely new technological principles, involving the use of modern technologies in the sphere of housing, improvement of service quality and set new standards in the industry, housing and communal services in Russia as a result of automation of processes of management of real estate and implementation of solutions “Digital management company”.
