The company does not know what to do next
New Microsoft tablet with a folding display and a possible competitor to the iPad will not be released this year. The project, code named Andromeda froze or shut down. Nobody wants a device with a flexible screen and feature set of the tablet.
As journalists Mary Jo Foley of ZDnet and Tom Warren of The Verge, Microsoft has stopped work on the project Andromeda. The first reason is the lack of applications that support Andromeda OS. Second — the company now sees no reason to market a new hybrid device Surface with two screens that can transform into a tablet.
We don’t know definitively whether Microsoft refused to Andromeda or suspended development. We only know that in the next version of Windows 10 no program code required for operation of the tablet. This proves that in 2018, the gadget will not work. If the company closes the project Andromeda finally, the release of the first model could take place in 2019.
Rumors about a revolutionary tablet with a foldable display that supports touch and stylus, go on the Internet for several years. It is expected that the device will run on a mobile processor running the operating system Windows 10. About design we can only judge by renderam.
