As elsewhere in the world, telemedicine in Russia can become the driver of development of the market of Digital Health — by 2030, the latter is expected to grow to 90 billion roubles (2.8% of the total healthcare market). However, in respect of new industries has often been questionable. Among the obstacles to the development of, for example, Frost&Sullivan analysts noted the reluctance of doctors to operate, unfriendly regulatory environment and the lack of clarity with the payment of services. It is possible that the consequence of the latter was the suspension of the telemedical project “Megaphone. The health of the” operator of the “big four” company “Megaphone”. Before the development of a network of telemedical cabs refused the group of companies “Erkafarm”, run it in partnership with service Doc+. “Invest-foresight” asked the partner of the company “Tim Drive”, co-founder of the network of clinics “Doctor is near” Vladimir Gurdus the prospects of investing in the healthcare market. By the end of 2018 telemedicine services brought the “Doctor nearby” 155 million rubles of profit. Digital division of the company will soon be highlighted in a separate digital company. “The next doctor” was created in 2013 — the company “Tim Drive”, collecting a pool of private investors, has invested in the project more than 1 billion rubles. In addition to the “Doctor near”, “team Drive” has launched several projects: investment company “RMI partners” who invested about 20 trades with startups (USA, UK, Israel), which develops pharmaceuticals and medical devices, as well as manage the development from scratch of Russian pharmaceutical company Novamedica, which landed intellectual rights invested abroad innovation.

— Vladimir Oskarovich, what are the market segments of digital medicine most interesting for investment?

— First and foremost is to invest in solutions for medicine associated with artificial intelligence. The range is quite wide. Also promising to invest in the development of medical information systems (MIS). This electronic workflow and support clinical decision, and receiving and processing data from devices for remote health monitoring, etc. it is Also worth looking at solutions that fit into the concept of the “4P medicine” — the medicine of the future, based on concepts such as personalization, predikce, prevention and participatively. One direction — everything associated with remote monitoring of human health, medical devices for self-diagnosis and a simplified medical diagnostics. I think in this sector in a few years will happen boom certification. Many companies will start to offer things that will allow patients from home to solve a variety of medical issues. “Dr. Google” is good, but needs appliances. The explosion will happen when Apple or Samsung will start to incorporate into their products medical services. The first product from Apple has, incidentally, received FDA certification: it can be used to remove the ECG using the phone. It will be a real boom! In your pocket will be a set of medical devices to go to the doctor in many cases not be necessary. And, of course, storage of medical data is also very promising and interesting segment.

— “Team Drive” today, in that are ready to invest in digital medicine?

— Our project “Doctor near” is largely project-integrator associated with the interaction with the end customer. This is not a highly specialized company engaged in the development, for example, a new CardioVisor. This is the project ecosystem. If we see an interesting story, a product that can strengthen the ecosystem can invest. However, in Russia there are not very many things that you want to invest.

On world market watch?

— Yeah. But would prefer to buy already more or less finished products, and not to invest in the development. Just time is of value. We work not in the mode of the incubator, and in the mode market maker, we are ready to take the finished product and introduce it to the market: to test, to try, to fly. So we will most likely not strategy a venture investor in new developments, and investments in new products and people who are well informed and display innovations to the market in a faster mode.

— What trends in the industry you prefer?

— Our priority — primary medicine, General practitioners. We did not focus on specialized medicine, and the medicine of the first level of the first line. This is something that is about 95% of the needs of the common man. Thank God transplanted heart have to rarely, as asthma, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes — that’s what people and it hurts mostly. And then, in the direction of what we’re looking at.

— That is, if you look to the solutions for primary care?

— If to speak about a specific project that we develop, our task is to solve the problem of customer convenience, without going into medical ideology, to the maximum to save the person time and efforts, but also to facilitate decisions. To you, for example, in Google has received the request “a headache what to do” and searched for answers in tons of garbage online, and clicked a button in the app and talked to the doctor. And that it was fast, easy and convenient. And the next step to was a doctor who observed you. This is what we now want to invest — this is our medical and service concept.

In telemedicine believe?

— There is no question of trust or distrust in telemedicine, there is a question for the current model. You can apply for Breakfast soup and if it does not want to have to conclude that Breakfast is exhausted as a format. There are just certain stages of development of the industry, in which occurs the relevant culture. Now we help the current doctor digital technologies. But while people have no habit to go into the booth, put your finger into an unknown device by itself to diagnose. Users not quite ready for it. Even a button to press to talk with a doctor because it is necessary to overcome yourself! Including your own. And if you need to go into the booth, where it is unclear who will take your tests… All this, of course, unusual. And can only work in the system. For example, you talked to the doctor, he’ll have already recommended to go to a nearby pharmacy where there is a Cabinet self-diagnosis, blood tests and in 20 minutes to obtain a medical report with recommendations. And if you just put the booth self-test in pharmacy, this will not work.

— And what is your project different then?

— We do not invent for the client stuff. We’re trying to look at the health care system through the eyes of the patient. We do not accidentally exit from the insurance business: I have been at the forefront of the creation of voluntary medical insurance in Russia. And LCA is about the organization of medical care for managing the money in a convenient way. Same here. What we do is we adapt the health system to the needs of the person. Alas, but the healthcare system in Russia always was not customer-oriented: everything was built around the doctor, not the patient. We’re trying to put in the center of the patient. About this trend today, and the health Ministry says. We look at what the client needs, and we do it — that’s why we have a lot of customers.

— Will there be a breakthrough telemedicine, if it is included in OMS?

— Doesn’t matter. The breakthrough will be when people will increasingly use telemedicine. Even if of the 3.8 million people who have access to our telemedicine services neighbourhood Doctor will use at least 10%, — will already be a huge leap. And, if it is convenient, they will come back and use again. And I’m sure that telemedicine is convenient to any person. And what we create today, affordable for all: 4-5 thousand rubles a year for a digital assistant to give everyone can.
