The city Council of new York proposed to punish violators who send strangers pictures of penises on AirDrop in public places. It is reported by The New York Times.
The offense was called “cyberflying” (cyber-flashing). The authors propose to impose a fine on violators in the amount of one thousand dollars or to send them to prison for a year. They call this phenomenon, which does not fit the legal definition of exhibitionism, sexual harassment, knotted at the technology.
“Before, you had to get a long coat and good shoes for running [to solicit to strangers]. Thanks to technology, behave in a way that was much easier,” — said co-author of the law, Republican Joseph Borelli.
Offenders sending pornographic pictures via AirDrop technology in Apple products, and lets you send photos via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to all who have enabled this option in the region of 10 metres. Feature allows you to remain anonymous, so the victim becomes problematic to identify the addressor in crowded places. The disadvantage is also that, the smartphone automatically displays the transmitted image, which occupies most of the screen.
In July it was reported that France recognized the crime upskirting — taking pictures of girls under their skirts without their knowledge in public places. Depending on the seriousness of the crime the period may be two years imprisonment and a fine of up to 30 thousand euros.
