MOSCOW, 4 Jan — RIA Novosti. Manufacturer of processors and components for mobile devices, Qualcomm has made an interim payment in the amount of 1.34 billion euros needed for the imposition of a temporary ban on sale in Germany some models of the iPhone, according to a press release from the company.
Previously regional court of Munich issued a verdict, according to which the American company Apple has violated the patent of Qualcomm installation on iPhone of certain technical components and will be banned in Germany offer a number of models.
“Qualcomm Incorporated today (Thursday — ed.) has announced that it has provided a performance bond in the amount of 1.34 billion euros. Deposit required to Qualcomm provided the entry into force of the judgment of 20 December 2018, according to which Apple violated patented energy-saving technologies Qualcomm”, — said in a press release.
However, the sentence can still be appealed to the Higher regional court. These interim payments are foreseen for court decisions in the case that, despite an interim victory, the participant still lose the case to a higher court and then have to pay damages.
Earlier, the court in the Chinese city of Fuzhou imposed a preliminary ban on sales in Europe’s seven models of Apple smartphones in connection with the infringement of patent rights, the American manufacturer of processors and components for mobile devices, Qualcomm. As reported by Reuters, Apple will update the software (FIRMWARE) of its smartphones for the resolution of claims and cancellation of preliminary ban on the sale of some models of iPhone in China.
