TASS, October 10. The American company Apple removed from the App Store app that used the protesters in Hong Kong to track the location of police officers. On Thursday Reuters reported.
It is noted that Apple conducted an investigation, received a lot of feedback about the app HKmap.live where the map was marked with locations where there are police. After the inspection, the company found that the app “being used in ways that threatened to law enforcement and the people of Hong Kong”. After this it was decided to remove the app from the app Store.
According to the Agency, the attackers could use HKmap.live to ambush police, as well as to plan attacks on local residents in places where there is no nearby law enforcement officers.
The application developer did not comment on the situation to the Agency.
