MTS, MegaFon, Beeline and Tele2 are beginning to test the SIM card of a new type of communication standard NB-IoT. In the foreseeable future, these SIM cards will work in devices of the Internet of things, the number of which in Russia is greatly increasing every year.
All leading Russian operators interested in the development and issue of SIM cards of the new standard NB-IoT. MTS has announced the launch of three new types of SIM-cards: regular, able to work in extreme weather conditions and mini-chips for use in small gadgets. In MTS said that by the end of 2018, the company will provide coverage NB-IoT in most large cities of Russia. When the test is finished, the operator will launch a special affordable tariff for devices of the Internet of things.
In “the Megaphone” also actively involved in the development of the technology NB-IoT. Development of the operator allow to use new technologies without having to change SIM card. To do this, simply connect to a special tariff option “the Internet of things for business.” From Beeline and Tele2 also plans for large-scale testing NB-IoT in the coming months.
Representatives of all operators of the “big four” believe that the legalization of eSIM in Russia will make a breakthrough in the development of the Internet of things. At the moment technology eSIM prohibited by law. But experts believe that operators will be able to make the necessary changes in legislation.
