The savings Bank has published statistics of expenditure of Russians in past new year’s eve. Together with the operator’s fiscal data “Platform CRF” it was established that in the period from December 29, 2018 January 7, 2019, the Russians spent 1.1 trillion rubles.
According to the published data of Sberbank, every Russian took an average of 16.1 thousand rubles for new year holidays. Statistics collected by the Bank only takes into account non-cash payment, which every year becomes more and more popular in Russia. Sberbank noted that for the first time in four years the average amount of money spent during the new year holidays has increased compared to last year.
Most of the money in the new year Russians spent on food. Spending in supermarkets amounted to almost a third of the average holiday budget. The other most popular categories among the Russians were “household appliances”, “hotels” and “catering”. Sberbank was named an unpopular acquisition in the new year holidays, clothes and shoes, but these purchases accounted for 8.4% of Russians ‘ spending.
During the festive period, the savings Bank recorded the transaction by the card of 169 countries. Most Russians vacationed in the Republic of Belarus, Spain, Italy and Georgia, but noticed unusual destinations — Aruba, cook Islands, Zimbabwe and other exotic places.
