According to experts in the field of software development by Thomas reed, one of the weaknesses of Apple’s desktop operating system are already installed and downloaded apps.
Reed notes that while downloading and installing new programs, the system automatically checks its components and other malicious elements. However, for already installed applications, these checks are almost never carried out, because macOS already checked them previously and brought in the “trusted” list.
The presence of such flaw allows hackers to use already installed programs to access user data. To do this, attackers need to inject malicious code into already used applications.
The expert is sure that the existence of such a defect, which at the moment do not know many third-party developers, can jeopardize the safety of the vast quantities of Apple computers. The authors of the programs should take an active part in eliminating vulnerability. To do this, they simply add their apps regularly tested for integrity of the code.
