The operator of one of China’s largest payment systems Alipay reported the theft of funds from user accounts. For compromised accounts, attackers used stolen Apple IDs. How the criminals were IDs and how much they were able to withdraw from accounts is currently unknown.

The incident affected users, Alipay and WeChat Pay. The exact number of victims is unknown. As noted, some users lost in the amount of up to 2 thousand yuan (about $288). Apple representatives in Shanghai refused to comment on the situation.
