According to the court, from 1 January 2016 to 1 February 2018 Jiang regularly received packages from Hong Kong, each of which was 20 to 30 fake iPhone. Using fictitious names, he gave smart phones to Apple for replacement under warranty, then sent the original device to China for resale.

In just two years the smuggler managed to import more than 2 thousand unhealthy fake iPhone, which he then traded for 1500 original devices from Apple. According to the materials of the original smart phones are then resold for $600 apiece.

The Chinese national faces a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment and a fine of $2 million Verdict will be announced on 28 August 2019. Under the deal with sledstviem Jiang agreed to pay Apple $200 thousand.

According to The Washington Post, Apple suspected fraud in July 2017. A lawyer for Apple sent the Chinese a letter in which he demanded to stop illegal actions.

The company says it rejected 1576 requests for the replacement of smartphones, coming from the Jiang, 1493 however, the application was granted, which led to losses for Apple in the amount of $895 thousand.

The investigators noted that critical to the success of the Scam Jiang was the fact that the device was not included, so experts could not immediately verify the smartphones, and they just replaced.
