The main trends of development of digitalization in the expert group meeting on “Digital transformation of modernity” in Nizhny Novgorod told Rob van Kranenburg (Amsterdam), founder of the European Council on the “Internet of things”, the author of the concept of the Internet of Things. The event was organized by Nizhniy Novgorod state University named. Lobachevsky, with the assistance of the Research Institute “Dialogue of civilizations” and the Nizhniy Novgorod scientific-information center.
“The Internet of things is a new concept of space, where all subjects and areas of everyday life are interrelated and constitute a single network: people, houses, machines, and services interact with each other. It’s not just the number of sensors connected to the Internet is an Association of the virtual and real worlds where people communicate with devices and objects. I.e. in a single ecosystem uniting the information flows that come from people (their gadgets, smart lenses, hearing AIDS, etc.) from objects (sensors, smart home services), urban services (transportation, Parking lots, etc.) and services.
Now its ecosystem to build the world’s leading it companies: Google, Huawei, Apple. Within each ecosystem has its own “subsystem” interfaces for body, home, voice assistants to interact with smart devices, etc. the Main task now is to consolidate existing information flows and to ensure the continuity of their interaction. Ie the Internet of things is changing human behaviour is more interaction with things. And ultimately, this is a trend that should lead us to create artificial intelligence.
Let’s imagine a situation: self-driving the car hit man. Around this situation, “located” data: the house, other people, other objects, etc. On these data, there is a level of artificial intelligence. On this level of artificial intelligence is another new entity that takes all of this information. In this situation, everyone is awarded the so-called “temporary identity” — man, machine, objects around. All this in the form of one number doing in this new education and those who will manage this formation, and those will be in the future to have real power.
Now the real attempts to create an artificial intelligence made in China. At the ecosystem level, the Chinese are trying to link their smartphones to what they use at home, to what they wear and what they manage (e.g., automobiles). One is attached to the machine, the machine is linked to other means of communication and services and thus creating a smart city. All these data are stored separately, with a high level of security.
Europe has nothing like this happens: we store the data on such platforms as Amazon, eBay — the concept of artificial intelligence we have. One and advanced solutions, leading us to the creation of artificial intelligence — 5G — major investments now coming here. If we talk about the Internet of things, among the companies most actively developing this theme, you can call Uber: he is buying up almost all the free space in cities to build their points 5G. In other words, the current blurred relationship between people and machines in the future will be much greater — and these processes are already underway.
In this regard, one of the major trends that occurs is identity management (identity management). In Utrecht we started the project, when each person was awarded a specific identification number. And with it, information about the person were sent to different organizations. I.e. when he refers, conventionally, to the Bank, there is already information about how much credit he can take it, some not. The main idea of identity management that we should move away from the concept of the individual and come to understand that the man credited with the attributes that are important here and now to commit certain actions.
In China there are precedents assigning people ratings (numbers): the rating helps a person to buy a ticket for a plane or train, i.e. taking into account the personal rating is the price approved or not approved loans.
The scope of identity include electronic passports, including those that can generate various corporations. For example, if I have a passport from Microsoft, perhaps in the future I will be able to travel, if Microsoft, conditionally, agree on visas. In this regard, the importance of national passports may change.
Will facilitate the award of individual rating of each person by protecting his rights? Yes, this is possible. While these issues are not resolved. But the main thing here is to remove the problem from the emotional aspect. We must understand that youth are not experiencing those emotions that concern the older generation.”
