MOSCOW, 5 Feb — RIA Novosti. Committees of the state Duma will appeal to the Prosecutor General because of the maps on Apple devices on which Sevastopol and Simferopol are shown as the territory of Ukraine.
The corresponding legal assignment prepared by the Deputy from LDPR Alexander Starovoitov, was adopted by the state Duma on Tuesday.
“We consider it appropriate to instruct the state Duma Committee on security and combating corruption, state Duma Committee on information and communication technologies to direct the request to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation with the aim of preventing the violation of the Constitution on the part of Apple”, — stated in the Protocol order.
It is noted that the display on Apple Maps of Sevastopol as a Ukrainian city is unacceptable. “Some gadgets of Apple, you similarly see the city of Simferopol”, — is spoken in the document.
Earlier, the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin instructed to invite a representative of Google because of an incorrect designation of the Crimea on its maps.
Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters in Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russia. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia.
