MOSCOW, September 13 — RIA Novosti. The legal Committee of the chamber of representatives of the U.S. Congress requested documents and records of communication between the heads of the four largest technology companies in the U.S. in an antitrust investigation, according to documents posted on the Agency’s website.
Request the legal Committee was sent to the companies Facebook, Google, Apple and Amazon. Companies will have to provide data, including emails and phone records of leadership, not later than October 14, 2019. Among senior officials, who will need to provide the information, the founders of Google Sergey Brin, Larry page, Eric Schmidt, the head of Facebook mark Zuckerberg, Apple’s CEO Tim cook and head of Amazon Jeff Bezos.
“The purpose of the investigation, which involved both parties — to explore the problems of competition in the digital market; (find out), involved major companies in monopolistic practices online, as well as sufficient whether existing antitrust laws, policies and their implementation to solve these problems”, — stated in the documents.
Previously, the newspaper the Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the situation said that the attorneys General of several States are preparing to officially start an antitrust investigation against Facebook and Google.
