NEW YORK, July 24. /TASS/. The antitrust division of the U.S. Department of justice intends to conduct inspections of the leading companies operating on the Internet. This is stated in the statement published on the Ministry’s website on Tuesday.
As noted in the document, specialists of the justice Department, in particular, to find out “how market-leading network resource was in a dominant position and resorted to methods, which reduce competition, slow innovation, or otherwise harm consumers.” Specialists of Department will take into account “the concerns expressed by consumers, business and entrepreneurs on a network of services relating to search, social networks and trade”.
The U.S. justice Department expects to receive “information from the public, including workers in the sector who are aware of the competition between the network resources.” The Agency is ready to file lawsuits against companies, if they revealed violations on their part.
The newspaper the Wall Street Journal notes that the checks can be carried out, in particular, in relation to the companies Google, Apple and Amazon. The publication notes that the Minister of justice, U.S. attorney General William Barr pays great attention to technology companies. The pressure on them by the US regulators may increase, says the publication.
