The Twitter announced that from April through June 2018 removed over 143 000 applications policy violated the microblogging service.
Twitter also released a large number of updates to its own platform developers, designed to limit the use of a software interface of the social network.
Now to access the Twitter API will become more difficult. The service manual will be more carefully selected applications and impose a strict form of accountability for programs that frequently access the social network. At the same time, users will be easier to inform Twitter about publications that violate the rules.
Developers need to describe in detail how their product is going to interact with Twitter. But it will not save them from further issues and possible limitations. And the number of queries to automatically create tweets and reposts will be seriously reduced.
Of intent by Twitter to restrict access to the API was known at the beginning of 2018. In November 2017, the management platform banned sites Russia Today and Sputnik to post and advertise your content in the social network, accusing the publication relations with the Kremlin and intervention in the US presidential election in 2016.
Twitter plans to improve communication with the different departments to prevent such situations further, and get rid of automation.
More stringent rules to control the activity of interconnected apps will come into force on 10 September 2018.
