In Istanbul detained two people, whom Turkish authorities suspect of espionage in favor of the United Arab Emirates. The detainees confessed in implementing espionage activities in favor of the UAE.
They were also checked for involvement in the murder of a Saudi journalist Jamal Hackage. One of the detainees arrived in Turkey shortly after the incident in October 2018, reports Reuters.
We will remind, the journalist Jamal Kalkaji was a columnist for The Washington Post and was known for critical articles on the authorities in Saudi Arabia. He lost the second of October last year during a visit to the Consulate of his country in Istanbul. Riyadh denied the murder of an opposition journalist, but later Saudi Arabia was forced to admit what happened. A journalist was killed in a quarrel with employees of the Consulate.
