Apple turned off the Walkie Talkie app for the Apple Watch due to a vulnerability that allows an outside person to listen to an iPhone user without his consent. The company has apologized for the presence of safety concerns and the inconvenience.
Walkie Talkie allows two users that have accepted each other’s invitation, to receive audio from the interface to the PTT (Push-to-talk “Push to talk”).
“Only what we know about the vulnerability in the application Walkie-Talkie for the Apple Watch. We immediately turned off all associated features and now quickly working on a patch,” reads an official statement by Apple.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience and promise that all features will be restored as quickly as possible. Currently, we have no information about what attackers can use this vulnerability in real world attacks. Also showed no signs of the exploit”.
