Apple is working on creating its own news app, access to which can be obtained on a subscription basis. According to sources of the newspaper the Wall Street Journal, the service is already informally referred to as “Netflix for news”.
According to the idea, users can read materials from various media, including paid. According to the newspaper, subscription to the service will be based on the Apple News, it will cost $10 per month. However, later the price may change.
Half of the income from the new service Apple is going to keep and the other to distribute among news providers. The size of the final payout of the media will depend on the popularity of their content.
The company will not be anyone to share the payment data and email addresses of their subscribers.
According to The Wall Street Journal, some major publishers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post is unhappy with the proposed terms, but negotiations continue.
Run application to be held within 2019. Sources of the newspaper noted that thanks to the new service from Apple hopes to fill the revenue from the falling sales of the iPhone.
In most companies, Apple declined to comment.
