Apple strengthened its leadership in the global smart-watches market in 2018. The share of the Apple Watch had 50% of all sold in the world of “smart” hours. Apple has also set an absolute record for sales of the Apple Watch in 2018.

The popularity of the Apple Watch in 2018 as expected increased. During the year the company sold 22.5 million smart hours, which is 4.8 million more than in 2017. For comparison, coming in second place of the rating company Fitbit has shipped for a year only 5.5 million smart watches. Similar figure and Samsung is sold 5.3 million “smart” hours for the year.

Only in 2018, the world has sold 45 million smart hours, of which 22.5 million, exactly half, accounted for the Apple Watch. But it is noteworthy that the share of Apple in the market of “smart” hours has declined from 60 percent in 2017 to 50% in 2018.

The reason for dilution is to strengthen the company’s competitors. Especially strongly marked Fitbit. Its share in the market of smart-hours for the year increased from 1.7% to 12.2%.

According to experts, in the next few years the Apple Watch will only increase the user base. Wearable devices are gradually becoming more available and attracting more users.
