MacOS users should be wary of new malware that steals the cookies of the browser and the credentials. The main purpose of this malware is to steal cryptocurrency users kryptomere.
New cyber threat was called CookieMiner, its developers are focused solely on users of Apple’s operating system. Experts believe that the malware was developed on the basis of another malware for macOS DarthMiner.
The responsibility for finding CookieMiner belongs to specialists from Palo Alto Networks. According to the researchers, CookieMiner is set on a victim’s machine a malicious miner.
It is noteworthy that the attackers chose the cryptocurrency Koto as its goal. It’s not a very popular digital currency is most prevalent in Japan.
Thus, CookieMiner can steal:
Cookies Google Chrome and Safari, which are associated with the popular cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets.
User names, passwords and payment card information that are saved in Chrome.
Data and keys of cryptocurrency wallets.
Messages users iPhone, stored in iTunes Baqubah.
The malware is aimed at the following crypto currency exchange: Binance, Coinbase, Poloniex, Bittrex, Bitstamp, MyEtherWallet.
