The European Commission approved the acquisition by Apple apps for music recognition Shazam, according to the website of the Commission.
“The European Commission approved the acquisition by Apple Shazam. The Commission concluded that the merger will not have an adverse impact on competition in the European economic area or any substantial part”, — is spoken in the message.
European Commissioner for competition Margrethe Vestager came to the conclusion that the transaction will not reduce competition in the market for digital music playback.
In February, the European Commission started the verification of the transaction, in which Apple bought the recognition service Shazam music. The Commission considered, a deal potentially “adverse” to competition. The investigation initiated by the Austria, France, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Spain and Sweden. Apple has acquired British recognition service Shazam music in December 2017.
